Yoga Teacher

Hi there! My name is Ellie-an ISU grad with a degree in Event Management. I have always enjoyed the fine details & organization of planning various events or daily tasks. Growing up I always wanted to be a teacher. Testing the waters in a bit in Elementary Education, I felt that teaching in a school setting wasn’t my niche. In the spring of 2018, I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program with Holy Yoga. I soon found that teaching yoga was the setting that I wanted.

When I am not teaching yoga classes you can find me assisting with weddings at Eastbank Venue in downtown Cedar Rapids or traveling the world with the people who fill my cup. I love staying active and being outdoors. Yoga, weight training, Pilates, training for my next marathon, and walking the streets of Cedar Rapids with my Mom (Stephanie), are all ways I have found to fill that void.

Teaching Power Flow on Saturdays is one of my favorite classes. Although on the opposite side I fully enjoy a good gentle class. My average class schedule is listed as follow:

Monday’s 6-7pm: Hips & Flow

Tuesday’s 10:15-11:15am: Gentle Yoga

Saturday’s (when scheduled) 8-9am: Power Flow

In addition to my 200-hour training, I have also received my 95 hour in Pre/Post-natal yoga. I am available for private yoga sessions in addition to my regularly scheduled classes!

  1. Favorite pose: upward facing dog. It is a nice transitional pose and it often feels good on my low back and psoas muscle
  2. Favorite food: some sort of Mexican! Chips and salsa, queso, or guac. I could eat that anytime of the day.
  3. Hour of free time: if I’m reading a good book at the time I like to just peacefully read. Otherwise I like to watch some show on Netflix that I’ve already seen a hundred times.
  4. What is my guilty pleasure: spending money at a restaurant when I have food in my fridge
  5. Best book: Another hard question. I can’t say I have a favorite, however I really like any romance book or a book that continues to surprise me.
  6. Favorite season: summer but a nice 75 degree with a little breeze. I love being outside either reading, working on my yard, or being in the presence of others
  7. Meditate: it helps my get out of my head. I often overthink so taking a moment to be with myself is very helpful
  1. Why I teach: I was a dancer through high school and I loved the moving of dance. In college I got into hot yoga which I viewed more of a workout than a yoga practice. After graduating college I moved back to my hometown I started practicing with my mom and found how much I enjoyed the movement similar to dance. I decided to sign up for a YTT and now I love it and consider it my fun job.
  2. Teaching style: I love a faster paced yoga class to take. I generally teach a little faster as well but still love a good yummy deep and gentle
    stretch.
  3. Yoga mat: I’m still working to find a mat that I love. Otherwise I use Brentwood Home meditation pillow.
